The first step to keeping your windows clean is making sure you clean them frequently. Cleaning your once a year will prevent dirt from building up, which would obviously make cleaning easier.
How to clean windows without fillets
in 5 steps
1. Dust and brush the windows
The first step to streak-free window cleaning is to remove excess dirt, dust, and cobwebs. Find a dustpan brush, dust wand, broom, or something similar. Then brush the windows to remove any accumulated dirt, cobwebs, or grime. It is best to start at the top of each window and work your way down..
2. Choose a detergent and start washing
There are many different window washing products that you can choose from. In Australia, it will tend to run into Windex and Ajax. They will both do the job. However, some of you may prefer to use something that you already have at home. If that’s the case, you can try a little dishwashing detergent mixed with water or you can try vinegar. I’ll talk more about the vinegar later.
If you are using detergent mixed with water, simply dip the microfiber cloth (or your squeegee sponge) in the water and scrub the window in a circular motion. Think Karate Kid: wax, wax. For stubborn brands, you may need to use store-bought Window Cleaner Sydney. Alternatively, you can add a cap of methylated alcohol to your water.
TIP 1: For a good cleaning, it is better to use cold water. Hot water evaporates too quickly.
TIP 2: Always wipe from the top of the windows down. That way, you won’t have dirty water dripping onto the areas you’ve already cleaned.
3. Dry the window with a squeegee
You don’t need to use a squeegee to dry the window, but it is the fastest and most efficient way to do it. However, using a squeegee correctly takes a little practice. It starts at the top left of the window and winds its way down from left to right and then right to left. Use a rag or cloth to dry the squeegee between each pass or as needed. That will help prevent streaks.
4. Clean the window with a cloth.
Even professionals cannot completely dry the window with just a squeegee. To avoid steak marks, you will need to use a dry microfiber cloth (recommended), a paper towel, or newspaper to dry the windows after wringing them. In a circular motion, dry the windows from top to bottom. Make sure the all cloth is clean and dry.
5. Clean window frames and floors
When you’re done with step 4, you probably have some water on the windowsill and sometimes even on the floor. Use a towel to dry these areas because a microfiber cloth gets wet and dirty too quickly.
If marks remain on the windows, rub them with your microfiber cloth or repeat the process from the beginning.
When you have finished cleaning all the Window Cleaner Sydney inside your home, you can also clean the outside. Your windows will look clean fresh.
